Welcome to Hookergate School
Hookergate is a secondary school on a human scale.
With about 600 students we get to know everyone as an individual - we can personalise their learning.

Steps to Success
The Steps to Success programme for year 11 students is now in phase 2 which is the revision phase.
Attending students will be provided with a drink and a cookie.

Hookergate Science Club
Science club is currently running every B week on Tuesdays in Room 47.
Start time is 12:45pm and tickets are available on the previous Monday at break time from the Science Prep Room.
All year groups are welcome.
Hookergate Active Kidz
The Active Kidz Play was a great success this Easter at Hookergate
All involved had a great time, including the instructors, so look out for the next session due in the summer holidays.

Hookergate Students Experience WW1 Battlefields
In April, 30 post-16 students visited the World War 1 battlefields and cemeteries of Belgium and France. The trip was organised to tie in with students’ studies of the events and poetry of WW1 and was a great success in terms of what was learned and how deeply affected the students were.

Hairdressing Competition Kirkley Hall College
Year 10 students from Hookergate attending a hairdressing course at Gateshead College competed alongside students from Sunderland, Gateshead, and Ashington Colleges.
Success was achieved in the creative hair style section with a second place for which a medal and certificate was presented.

Gateshead Schools’ Cup
Well done to the Year 9 boys for winning the Gateshead Schools’ Cup which was played at Gateshead International Stadium on 24th April 2008.
After a hard fought match they defeated St Thomas More 4-3 on penalties after the game ended 2-2 after extra time.
