On Thursday the 22nd of May Hookergate became a maximum security prison. Yes, that’s right! Pupils in years 8 and 9 had their normal lessons suspended for the day as they experienced first hand life as a prisoner.
15 members of Her Majesty’s prison officers arrived to teach the pupils about the realities of life behind bars.
Pupils entered well into the spirit of the day, marching around the yard, being paroled at lunch time, being dressed in prison uniform, spending time in the cells and finding out about how one moment of reckless behaviour can lead to a life in prison.
The event was organised as part of the students Citizenship and RE programme.
