On Wednesday 2 July Mr Kirkland and Mrs Atkinson met a group of ten Year 10 students at Newcastle Central station for the 7am train to London. The group were on a once in a lifetime visit to the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.

We were lucky enough to be in possession of ten Court 2 tickets and two Centre Court tickets.
After a quiet journey across London on the tube we arrived at the tennis ground – all thrilled to be part of this amazing experience.
As the day developed so did the predicted rain – it didn’t spoil our fun as we shopped, sat on Henman Hill and soaked up the atmosphere. Watching the games on show once the rain stopped reinforced how awesome Federer is and that the Williams sisters are going to be very difficult to beat in the Ladies Doubles. The tennis players amongst the group watched carefully to gather any tips they could to improve their technique! Let’s hope they can. Unfortunately we had to leave just as Andy Murray made his way on court – as it happened he didn’t do too well against Nadal.
The day ended arriving back at Newcastle at 11.30pm – what a day to remember.
