Trashion Show

Linking with the year 11 'Fashion is rubbish' project, BTEC student Rosie Burlison took the opportunity to enter the Trashion Fashion Show organised by the Gateshead Youth Council.

The Trashion Show was held at the Lyndhurst Centre on Saturday 1st November at 6pm.
After much debating by the judges Rosie's design was awarded first place.
The prize was clean water for twelve people in Beshkent in Tajikistan, as part of 'Oxfam Unwrapped' sponsorship of the event, and a big tin of chocolates for the winning designer and model.

The theme of the show was Recycle and Reuse and encouraged young budding fashion designers to create outfits that used discarded materials and rubbish. The entry for the show had to be completed by half term so Rosie stayed back at lunch and after school to get the outfit finished in time.

The design made use of last years Art coursework that was left behind. Every year there are a number of paintings that pupils fail to collect after the October deadline that are usually repainted and reused where possible by the next lot of Art students. The girls shredded and sewed them together to create an extraordinary dress.
