Newcastle Eagles Basketball
A group of students from Hookergate School watched the Newcastle Eagles take a share of second place in the BBL Championship after beating the Everton Tigers 88-82 at the Metro Radio Arena.

Sixth Form War Graves Trip 2008
Visiting Thiepval held a personal interest for me: the name of my Great Uncle, Sgt. Thomas Ayre, was carved into the stone monument in memory of his death whilst fighting in the region in 1916.

PRISON ME NO-WAY
On Thursday the 22nd of May Hookergate became a maximum security prison. Yes, that’s right! Pupils in years 8 and 9 had their normal lessons suspended for the day as they experienced first hand life as a prisoner.

Germany / France Trip 2008
At 11.30 pm on the evening of April 4th Mrs Ritson, Miss Collin, Miss King, Mr Nicholson and Mr Zabrocki set off with 40 pupils for the Black Forest in Germany. After an overnight journey to Dover we caught an early ferry and travelled down through Belgium, Luxembourg and France, arriving early evening in Kippenheim. After settling into our hotel and having a meal some pupils and staff went to explore the town while others stayed in the hotel to relax.

Hookergate Students Experience WW1 Battlefields
In April, 30 post-16 students visited the World War 1 battlefields and cemeteries of Belgium and France. The trip was organised to tie in with students’ studies of the events and poetry of WW1 and was a great success in terms of what was learned and how deeply affected the students were.
